In the north of Côte d’Ivoire, the department of Korhogo has seen the development of recreational fishing in several of its localities for several years. However, there is no data on this activity in the statistics of the administrative structures for fisheries management. The same is true of scientific research. This article therefore proposes to provide the first data on the population of fishermen, the main actors in this activity. The study is based on a documentary analysis and a field survey based on a sample of 189 fishermen, interviewed at four sites. According to the results, the majority of fishermen are men (97.35%). Their average age is 50 years. They are mainly urban (92.52%) and live mainly (85.19%) in Korhogo, the main urban area of the department. The activity is also dominated by civil servants and private sector employees (41.27%).

Dans le nord de la Côte d’Ivoire, le département de Korhogo connait depuis quelques années, le développement d’une pêche de loisir associative dans plusieurs de ses localités. Nonobstant, aucune donnée relative à cette activité n’existe dans les statistiques des structures administratives de gestion de la pêche. Il en est de même au niveau de la recherche scientifique. Cet article se propose donc de fournir les premières données sur la population des pêcheurs, principaux acteurs de cette activité. L’étude s’appuie sur une exploitation documentaire et une enquête de terrain basé sur un échantillon de 189 pêcheurs, interrogés sur quatre sites. Selon les résultats, les pratiquants sont en majorité des hommes (97,35 %). Leur moyenne d’âge est de 50 ans. Ce sont surtout des urbains (92,52 %) qui résident majoritairement (85,19 %) à Korhogo, principale localité urbaine du département. L’activité est également dominée par les fonctionnaires et agents du privé (41,27 %).
